Terms & Conditions of JD ROBERTSON & Co Ltd.  Our duty to our customers is to ensure that our vehicles are of the highest safety standards and likewise we must ensure our customers are fully qualified when taking one of our vehicles onto the road.

Only drivers who have completed the necessary insurance forms may drive (this needs to be done in person in our office before you can drive the vehicle)

All hirers must be aged between 21 & 78. Drivers aged between 21-24 years old a Young Driver Surcharge applies. Drivers aged between 76-78 a Senior Surcharge applies.

Hirers between 21-22 year old must have 2 years driving experience, with no accidents or endorsements.  Drivers between 23-24 years old must have 2 years driving experience, one minor accident and one minor conviction only.
Drivers over 25 must have at least 1 yrs driving experience and if more than 1 fault accident in the last 3 yrs it will need insurance clearance.

Any number of endorsements with no period of disqualification totalling up to 8 points in the last 3 years is acceptable.  Endorsement Codes AC10/AC20/ALL BA/ALL DD/ ALL DR/ALL DG/ CD40/CD50/CD60/CD70/MS90 acceptable only after 5 years from date of conviction.

Endorsement commencing UT NOT ACCEPTABLE .

Any licence with two or more periods of disqualification NOT ACCEPTABLE. Any conviction resulting in a disqualification of more than 6 months only acceptable after 5 years of date of conviction.  CD10/IN10/LC20 Acceptable only after 3 years from date of conviction. Any conviction resulting in a period of disqualification of six months or less is only acceptable after 3 years from date of conviction.

Excluded occupations: Person engaged wholly or partly in the entertainment, Professional sportspersons, Person who is a jockey or connected with racing, General Dealers, Market Traders, Street Traders, Scrap Metal Merchants, Student and/or undergraduate under the age of 25 years

Person who is a member of any foreign military or foreign armed service

Minibus drivers over 9 seats must have held a licence for 2 years and needs category D1 on their licence be over 25 years old and under 70 years old.

Drivers of vehicles over 3.5 tons must have held a licence for 2 years and needs category C1 on their licence be over 25 years old and under 70 years old.

All hirers must produce a current licence and proof of address dated within the last 3 months such as a bill, statement or a letter.

ALL HIRE CHARGES AND EXCESS DEPOSIT HAS TO BE PAID BY EITHER CREDIT OR DEBIT CARD WE DO NOT TAKE CASH.

Where a driver does not have a credit/debit card another person must pay for the hire with their credit/debit card and agree to pay any monies owing at the end of hire by signing the rental agreement.

Vehicles cannot be taken Abroad UK ONLY

The first £800 for cars or vans up to 3.5 tons & the first £1100 for trucks up to 7.5 tons and 17 seater minibuses of each and every accident involving and damage or loss to the vehicle or third party is the responsibility of the hirer.

Liability can be reduced to £300 for cars and vans up to 3.5 tons by paying £12 per day & trucks and minibuses by paying £18 per day.

Damage to vehicles by hitting overhead objects is the responsibility of the hirer.

Interior damage other than caused by an accident will be charged.

Extra drivers £5.00 per day up to a maximum of £35.00

When the vehicle is used for business purposes 7.5 Ton Box an operator’s licence is required which is the responsibility of the hirer. When the vehicle is used for private purposes an operator’s licence is not required. Drivers are requested to note the number of hours they are allowed to drive in any one period.

All our vehicles are unlimited mileage unless otherwise agreed.

We reserve the right to vary the rates, conditions and period of rental at any time and to refuse to rent to any person without giving a reason.

Hirers are responsible for all fuel used and for call out charges for the loss of keys or running out of fuel.

A deposit of the cost of the hire, the excess and waiver if taken is requested at the commencement of the hire.

Any reasonable expenses incurred will be reimbursed on production of a receipted invoice.

Companies who wish to arrange their own insurance cover may do so, proof of insurance cover must be shown. We will
provide details of the vehicle to be hired in advance where possible.

Rates include comprehensive insurance with an excess, maintenance & oil.

When the vehicle is to be used for towing, there is an extra charge of £7 per day for vans up to 3.5 tons and £10 per day for minibuses.

Cancellations

Reservations confirmed and pre-paid on-line
If you cancel your pre-paid reservation within 24 hours of placing the booking J.D.Robertson & Co.Ltd will issue a full refund. If you cancel your reservation more than 24 hours from time of making the booking no refund will be made.

All bookings cancelled less than 48 hours from the pickup date and time are non-refundable.

Please note if appropriate I.D., the necessary payment/deposit is not produced at time of pick up or the Terms and Conditions are not adhered to in any way, and the rental cannot proceed, no refund will be made.

NB: No cancellations can be made after the rental start date & time. In these instances you should request the pickup location to action on your behalf.

Reservations confirmed off line by the J D Robertson & Co.Ltd location
You may cancel your reservation at any time up to 48 hours before the check-out time without charge.

If you cancel after this time, the J D Robertson & Co.Ltd location may charge your credit card in accordance with the agreement made at the time of confirmation, subject to a maximum amount equal to the value of the hire.

If you do not arrive to collect your vehicle (no show):

Reservations confirmed and pre-paid on-line
Unless you have cancelled your reservation in accordance with the above terms, if you do not collect your vehicle at the time specified on the prepaid email confirmation, no refund will be made.

J.D.Robertson & Co.Ltd  will, however, hold your rental vehicle available for you for 4 working hours after the time of the reservation.(unless this is outside the renting location’s opening hours)

Reservations confirmed on-line or off-line by J.D.Robertson & Co Ltd locations
If you do not arrive to collect your vehicle at the time specified in the Reservation confirmation, and you do not let the J.D.Robertson & Co.Ltd   location know that you are cancelling your hire as above, the J.D.Robertson & Co.Ltd   location may charge your credit or debit card in accordance with the agreement made at the time of confirmation, subject to a maximum amount equal to the value of the hire.

Availability

J.D.Robertson & Co.Ltd  works with a wide range of Manufacturers and, as such, we are unable to display every available vehicle within each category on our website. Our policy is to display the most appropriate vehicle within that particular category at any point in time. The definition of ‘Or Similar’ is the provision of a vehicle of comparable size, body type and rental value to the vehicle being displayed. Please note, due to the number of manufacturers we deal with, we may supply a vehicle from an alternative manufacturer.

In the unlikely event that a vehicle from the category booked is unavailable J.D.Robertson & Co.Ltd   will supply a Free Upgrade. A Free Upgrade is defined as a vehicle which has a greater rental value than the category booked.
